R645

The R645 is the best loudspeaker we currently offer. It has much greater transparency than the 530 along with higher sensitivity, deeper bass reach and increased dynamics. Its 1.9 meter height allows people to move around the room and still listen critically.  This speaker requires no subwoofer and is capable of stunning realism and dynamics. 
 
The R645 has developed a very strong following of enthusiasts who "tweak" the speakers with many different types of modifications. We offer various crossover combinations with this speaker. Please contact us before you begin any modifications.

If you have already invested heavily in a high-end analogue audio system we can offer a passive crossover made from some of the very best components currently available. Alternatively if you are building a new  hi-fi system it might be in your interest to consider buying a digital crossover from the onset.  We offer an digital crossover with analog input-and-outputs at slightly below the cost of a high end passive crossover.

In most average sized rooms a subwoofer is not required unless used for organ music and video.

 

 

 The more air the R645s have to work with the better the soundstage depth.  In an acoustically symmetrical rectangular room they will revel in a superb soundstage.  A stereo pair can provide an excellent anchor for the front of a 4-5 channel system whilst our smaller Ribbons can cover the remaining channels.

Instant Digital System

Excellent results have been obtained by replacing the passive R645 crossover with a Behringer DCX2496 digital crossover and a 100 watt six channel Panasonic SA X25 or SA X45 digital amplifier. The ribbons are extremely revealing in terms of the quality of capacitors used in the passive crossovers and by converting to a digital/active crossover the sound coloring caused by the capacitors in the passive crossover is virtually eliminated. 

In the 100 Watt six channel Panasonic/Behringer configuration shown below each speaker unit within the R645 is powered by a dedicated amplifier.
